We Support 'Fly Lansing' - You Should, Too

I’m usually the first person you’ll meet at Güd Marketing in my role of growing our business. But I seek to grow not only our firm. I strive to see Lansing grow, too.

As the state capital, the Lansing area is a hub of activity for lawmakers, policy advisers, government staffers and other professionals who each play an important role in making the area thrive. That often includes travel out of the area, which brings me to my point.

You’ve probably seen or heard of the “Fly Lansing” campaign. Together, we have worked with the Capital Regional International Airport to develop a strong brand and voice to support its mission of remaining one of the country’s strongest regional airports and providing the best services to our business and leisure travelers.

There’s been quite a bit of buzz surrounding our airport lately. American Airlines – the nation’s largest carrier – looks to continue flights between Lansing and our nation’s capital. But the airline needs your help. With this proposal – which provides direct flights to and from Washington, D.C., with more than 30 connections to other prime locations – flying from Lansing becomes eminently more attractive and convenient.

The people on Capitol Avenue aren’t the only ones who choose to “Fly Lansing.” Michigan State University students and faculty patronize our airport to visit family or reach business destinations across the globe. Additionally, local business owners, such as myself, see the airport’s resources as an integral component in operating business and growing capital-area commerce.

So, I ask that you join me in voicing support for American Airlines’ plan to resume routes to Washington D.C., by letting the decision-makers at the Federal Aviation Administration and U.S. Department of Transportation know that flight plays an important part in helping our region thrive.

As a bonus, if American’s proposal is approved, it intends to offer three daily flights between Capital Region International Airport and O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, giving local fliers direct access to more than 100 other domestic and international destinations.
